HSP Latin America Returns to the ‘Land of Desert and Glaciers’
The 2024 High Security Printing™ (HSP) Latin America conference took place for the second time in its 12-year history in Chile, a country renowned for its contrasting landscapes, ranging from the world’s driest desert to ancient, unexplored glaciers. The event, held from 3-5 June 2024 in the country’s capital Santiago, set a new record for delegate numbers, particularly from central banks and government authorities.
Government delegates included a record number of officials from enforcement, customs, revenue, civil registration, and immigration authorities across the region. But despite the growth in participation, HSP maintained a strong sense of community, a key feature of its conferences in Asia, EMEA, and Latin America.
The conference commenced with three seminars. Antti Heinonen and Guillaume Lepecq of Cash Essentials led a session on ‘The Future of Cash,’ exploring the evolving role of cash and its status as a public good or basic right. The second seminar, organised by the International Tax Stamp Association, featured presentations by regional tax authorities on excise tax stamp and traceability systems in Chile, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic. The third seminar, hosted by Onfido and Entrust, focused on the emerging behaviours of ID fraudsters, highlighted by findings from Onfido’s 2024 Identity Fraud Report.
