IDEMIA Unveils Strategic Reorganisation
In a move aimed at bolstering its commitment to enhancing global safety and security, IDEMIA Group has announced a comprehensive reorganisation, which became effective on 2 January 2024. The company says that the restructuring underscores its ability to navigate dynamic market conditions while maintaining sustainable growth and customer-centricity.
IDEMIA, headquartered in France, had sales of nearly €2.9 billion and an EBITDA surpassing €630 million in 2023. Its origins date back to 1982, with the creation of Morpho Systèmes, which built fingerprint recognition equipment. It was then absorbed by Sagem in 1993 and from there into Sagem Défense Sécurité. It was renamed Morpho in 2010 and again to Safran Identity & Security in 2016.
Separate to this, in 2007, the activities of Oberthur Card Systems and parts of Oberthur Fiduciaire and Oberthur Cash Protection, were merged into a single entity, Oberthur Technologies, which was acquired by Advent International in 2011.
