A Closer Look at Latvia’s ePassport

In the realm of document security, Latvia is making significant strides with its new ePassport.

With an issuance of 1.25 million, the Latvian ePassport boasts an amalgamation of state-of-the-art security measures, produced in collaboration with Veridos, a global leader in identity solutions.

A prominent feature of the ePassport is the incorporation of Veridos’ Clip ID Echo technology. This advance enhances document security through vibrant colour photo technology, certified by Germany- based testing and certification association FOGRA for a 10-year lifespan. By laser- engraving additional information into the cardholder’s image at variable angles, Clip ID Echo ensures discreet text is revealed only when the document is tilted.

The Spectre ID security feature adds another layer of defence against fraudulent activities. Utilising a unique tilt effect generated by two different lens structures, Spectre ID creates a dynamic visual motif that springs to life when in motion. Any attempt to tamper with the document surface immediately compromises the functionality of Spectre ID, providing a clear indicator of potential fraud.
