Physical/Digital Debate Features Strongly at CLARCIEV
ID authorities and providers didn’t have much time to rest following the successful High Security Printing™ Latin America conference in Santiago, Chile, in early June. A few weeks later, many of those present in Chile re-convened at the XXI CLARCIEV (Meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Council of Civil Registry, Identities and Vital Statistics) in São Paulo, Brazil.
This annual meeting brought together regional ID and passport-issuing authorities and solution providers, for two days of presentations and networking. In addition, on the final morning of the meeting, a session was held for government authorities only, where they could discuss current issues and future planning between themselves, before returning to their respective home countries.
The inaugural session included Brazilian authorities as well as the President of CLARCIEV, Jorge Wheatley Fernández, of the Mexican ID authority, and Rebeca Omaña Peñaloza, Executive Secretary of CLARCIEV and conference organiser, from the Organisation of American States in Washington, DC.
